Bad Bunny and Adidas Just Built the World Cup’s Most Coveted Sneaker

Bad Bunny and Adidas unveiled the F50 Ghost Sprint just days before the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final, a release timed with surgical precision to land at the exact peak of global football fever, when the sport and everything adjacent to it is commanding the world’s full attention. The drop is not incidental to the World Cup campaign; it is the product of a broader strategy that has seen Adidas build Bad Bunny as one of its global ambassadors for the tournament, casting him alongside Lionel Messi and Timothée Chalamet in a cinematic World Cup campaign titled “Backyard Legends.” The F50 Ghost Sprint is the shoe Bad Bunny wore in that campaign, shown in a quick exchange with Messi, and the moment it appeared, the demand was already building.

The Shoe

The F50 Ghost Sprint combines a mid-2000s football boot silhouette with a recently revived sprinting shoe from the same era. A webbed overlay covering the upper invokes the F50+ from 2005, while a thin grooved outsole carries over from the Ghost Sprint track shoe, creating a hybrid that sits between football heritage and lifestyle footwear without fully committing to either. The design takes its inspiration from Puerto Rico’s Wolf Spider, known for sprinting across the forest floor to catch its prey, with a blue araña cage wrapping around the shoe for flexibility and stability. At the same time, deconstructed mesh gives the upper a performance quality suited to the tropical heat of Puerto Rican summers.

The Colourways

Three colourways are released simultaneously: Dark Marine, Solar Slime, and Core Black, with Dark Marine featuring a sky blue web over a purple mesh base that subtly references the gradient tones of the original 2004 Adidas F50. Style indicators unique to Bad Bunny’s Adidas releases appear across the front outer side of the toe box, including “+F50 BB” and “adidas para Bad Bunny,” small details that reward the person who looks closely and signal to anyone who knows the collaboration’s history exactly what they are holding.
