Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated ancient Greek epic The Odyssey held its New York City premiere at AMC Lincoln Square on Tuesday, July 14th, the only venue in New York capable of screening the film in IMAX 70mm, the format Nolan shot it in. The cast that assembled on that carpet, Zendaya, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, Elliot Page, Samantha Morton, Jon Bernthal, and more, turned the press tour’s governing fashion thread into its most complete expression yet, with nearly every look carrying a deliberate nod to Greek mythology, classical antiquity, or the specific character each actor plays in the film.
Zendaya

Zendaya led the arrivals in a white strapless gown by avant-garde label Matières Fécales, the standout element being dramatic white feathered angel wings hanging from her back, a direct embodiment of her character Athena, the goddess of wisdom, accessorised with Chopard jewellery and styled, as always, by Law Roach. The wings could have read as costume on anyone else. On Zendaya, styled with a long dishevelled braid and soft earth-toned makeup, they read as a considered fashion statement that happened to also be mythologically precise.
Anne Hathaway and Charlize Theron

Anne Hathaway, visibly expecting her third child, wore a custom Prada gown that embodied the royal spirit of her character Penelope, delivering what every review called a masterclass in maternity style, combining elegance with the warmth her character brings to the film. Charlize Theron stepped out in a custom version of a look from Dior Spring 2026 Couture by Jonathan Anderson, a white minidress with sinuous lines, a plunging V-neckline, a bow at the waist, and layered frilly elements, accessorised with Tiffany & Co. jewellery and styled by Leslie Fremar.

Lupita Nyong’o and the Rest

Nyong’o channelled Helen of Troy in a gilded Nicholas Oakwell Couture strapless gown from the Spring 2026 collection, fitted bodice, exaggerated hips, and a flowing gold skirt with a thigh-high slit, a look that gave the carpet its richest colour moment of the evening. Matt Damon wore Ralph Lauren Purple Label, Christopher Nolan wore Zegna, and Tom Holland arrived in an all-black ensemble shortly after Zendaya, with Travis Scott, who makes his acting debut in the film as a traditional bard, walking the carpet in a classic black suit alongside his girlfriend Kylie Jenner.
