The Red Sea Film Foundation has announced the postponement of the sixth edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival, which will now take place in the fourth quarter of 2027 instead of its previously scheduled date in December 2026.
The foundation issued a statement confirming the decision, explaining that it followed a comprehensive review of several considerations related to the timing of the upcoming edition, including the logistical requirements involved in hosting an international event of this scale.
The foundation also emphasized that the decision reflects its commitment to selecting the most suitable timing and circumstances to deliver the experience for which the festival is known. It also underscores its dedication to continuing to develop and build on the achievements of its previous editions, further strengthening its presence and standing on the international film festival circuit. The sixth edition will return with a renewed vision and a program that continues to celebrate cinema and its creators.
The foundation noted that it continues to fulfill its year-round mission of supporting filmmakers and advancing the film industry through its integrated ecosystem, which includes the Red Sea Fund and Red Sea Labs, alongside its various programs and initiatives. Through these efforts, the foundation continues to serve as a global bridge connecting talent and filmmakers with the international film industry.
The foundation further stated that in November, it will continue its year-round programs at Midan Al Thaqafa in Historic Jeddah, establishing it as a permanent destination for film screenings, cultural events, and specialized programs dedicated to the film industry. Details of the programs and their dates will be announced through the foundation’s official channels.
