Syrian singer Assala Nasri is experiencing a deeply emotional and joyful moment following her return to her homeland, Syria, after years away. Her return marks a long-awaited moment as her voice once again fills the streets of Damascus.

Assala received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the Syrian public and Arab media upon her arrival at Damascus International Airport yesterday. She is set to perform a major concert this Thursday at Al-Fayhaa Sports Hall in the Syrian capital, marking her first official appearance in Syria in more than 15 years.

Tickets for the concert, held under the patronage of the Syrian Ministry of Culture and the Syrian Artists Syndicate, saw strong demand from Syrian and Arab audiences through the designated booking platform, with all tickets selling out just hours after going on sale.

The organizers also announced that several Syrian and Arab television networks and streaming platforms had secured the broadcasting rights for the concert, including Al-Souria, Ana Syria, Rotana Music, Al Jadeed, Saudi Cultural Channel, and MBC Shahid.

Assala expressed her happiness at returning to Syria in a video circulating on social media. She said that her country had not changed and remained just as she remembered it, adding that she asked about every place and neighborhood she passed and recalled many cherished memories.

Meanwhile, Assala’s daughter, Sham Al Zahabi, documented her mother’s arrival in Damascus, sharing a series of videos and photos on her Instagram Stories. She also posted a photo of herself with her mother and her husband, Faeq Hassan, captioned: “And Assala is back to Damascus.”

Assala held intensive rehearsals at Al-Fayhaa Sports Hall just hours after arriving in Damascus. With a tight schedule, she and her team are working carefully to ensure that every aspect of the technical preparations is in place and that the concert comes together at its best.

For the highly anticipated concert, Assala has decided to perform songs from her new Syrian album, which features 14 tracks celebrating Syria’s rich heritage while highlighting the distinct identity of several Syrian provinces, each known for its own traditions and cultural character.

Earlier in August, Assala also released a Syrian song titled “Al Asala,” which achieved significant success, surpassing 20 million views on YouTube. The song features lyrics and music by Amjad Jomaa, with arrangement by Fouad Jneid.
