Women Dominate the 66th Ceremony, Walking Away with Major Awards
The annual Grammy Awards 2024, held on Sunday, February 4, wrapped up its 66th edition honoring the best in music from the past year, with performances from artists such as Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus, Jon Batiste, Dua Lipa, and more. Held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and hosted by comedian Trevor Noah, was an exciting night filled with memorable moments.
Taylor Swift Makes History
Taylor Swift, took home two Grammy awards, including Album of the Year for “Midnights”, her 2022 surprise release. This marked Swift’s fourth win in the category, making her the first artist in history to achieve this feat. She also won Best Pop Vocal Album.
Swift announced during her acceptance speech for the best pop vocal album that she would be releasing her next album “The Tortured Poets Department” on April 19, 2024. She thanked her fans for their support and said she was “so excited” to share her new music with them.

Miley Cyrus also won two Grammy awards for Best Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Flowers”.
The night’s biggest winner was Phoebe Bridgers with four trophies (three with her band, Boygenius), following her by winning three Grammy Awards
- Boygenius, who won Best Rock Song/Best Rock Performance for “Not Strong Enough”, and Best Alternative Music Album for “The Record”.
- SZA won Best R&B Song for “Snooze”, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with Phoebe Bridgers, and Best Progressive R&B Album for “SOS”.
- Victoria Monét won Best New Artist, Best R&B Album, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical Album for “Jaguar II”.
- Killer Mike won Best Rap Album for “Michael”, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance both for “Scientists & Engineers” featuring André 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane.
Billie Eilish Wins Song of the Year
Undoubtedly, Billie Eilish’s win for Song of the Year for “What Was I Made For?” is another highlight worth mentioning. Eilish, who co-wrote the song for the soundtrack of the animated film “Barbie” with her brother Finneas O’Connell. Furthermore, Eilish also won Best Song Written for Visual Media for the same song.

Three new Grammy categories debuted at the 2024 Grammy Awards
- Best African Music Performance: Water by Tyla – WINNER
- Best Alternative Jazz Album: The Omnichord Real Book by Meshell Ndegeocello- WINNER
- Finally, Best Pop Dance Recording: Padam Padam by Kylie Minogue & Lostboy – WINNER
The three history-making category additions are part of a larger set of updates, which were executed at the 2024 Grammys. Aimed at making the GRAMMY Awards process “more fair, transparent and accurate”, according to Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr.
Certainly, the 2024 Grammys Awards had some of the biggest names in music celebrate their achievements and honor their peers. Taylor Swift made history by winning her fourth Album of the Year award, and Billie Eilish dedicated her Song of the Year award to Lana Del Rey.
