Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has brought the hybrid configuration of its Tang L large SUV to Middle Eastern markets, representing a further expansion of the company’s international presence.
Marketed regionally as the BYD Atto 8, the seven-passenger SUV has launched in Saudi Arabia, with the company indicating broader availability across several Gulf markets as part of its regional rollout strategy.
BYD Atto 8 Hybrid Interior and Family Features

The Atto 8 is available in DM-i and DM-p plug-in hybrid configurations and features wireless connectivity, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, demonstrating BYD’s approach to tailoring vehicles for local consumer expectations.
With dimensions exceeding five meters in length and a 2,950-millimeter wheelbase, the model is marketed as a spacious solution for family transportation and extended journeys, balancing interior accommodation with everyday usability.
Advanced BYD Atto 8 Hybrid DM Technology
Both Atto 8 configurations utilize BYD’s fifth-generation DM Super Hybrid technology. The DM-i configuration prioritizes fuel economy and delivers a combined operational range reaching 728 kilometers, addressing concerns about extended travel requirements.
The DM-p configuration, engineered for enhanced performance, produces a maximum combined output of 359 kilowatts and incorporates BYD’s DiSus-C chassis management system, designed to enhance stability and road handling across diverse driving conditions.
Component of Expanded Regional Market Strategy
The Tang L debuted in China earlier this year in both electric and hybrid variants. Internationally, the model is marketed under various designations, with the Atto 8 representing the regional variant of the Tang L platform for Middle Eastern markets.
The Atto 8 represents the ninth model in BYD’s Saudi Arabian portfolio. The manufacturer has indicated plans to strengthen regional collaborations to increase the availability of reduced-emission transportation options.
Global Performance of the BYD Tang and Atto 8
The Tang series occupies a premium position within BYD’s Dynasty product line and encompasses multiple configurations currently available in China. The SUV family represents a significant component of BYD’s global sales portfolio as the manufacturer continues its international expansion.
As demand for electrified vehicles accelerates throughout the Gulf region and broader Middle East, BYD’s latest introduction highlights the area’s growing significance in the worldwide transition toward hybrid and electric transportation solutions.
