Lily Collins is set to portray one of Hollywood’s most beloved icons, Audrey Hepburn, in an upcoming film centred on the making of the 1961 classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The news broke via Deadline and was confirmed by Collins herself on Instagram, where she wrote alongside the announcement: “It’s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I’m finally able to share this.”
What the Film Is About

This isn’t a straightforward biopic; it’s something more intimate. The film will be adapted by Alena Smith, creator of the Apple TV+ series Dickinson, drawing from Sam Wasson’s 2010 bestselling book Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman. The story goes behind the scenes of one of cinema’s most iconic productions, exploring the woman behind Holly Golightly and the cultural moment that shaped her legacy.
A Personal Project
Collins isn’t just starring, she’s producing. The project is coming from her own production company, Case Study Films, which she launched in 2022 with her husband, Charlie McDowell, and producer Alex Orlovsky. It’s a passion project through and through. Collins has openly called Hepburn her muse for years, and has even channelled her aesthetic throughout Emily in Paris, recreating looks from Roman Holiday and Charade on screen.
The Right Fit?

The casting has been met with enthusiasm, and it’s easy to see why. Collins carries a similar quiet elegance, and her track record in biopics (Tolkien, Extremely Wicked) shows she can handle the weight of a real person. No director has been announced yet, but with Collins at both the helm and centre of the project, this one is already shaping up to be unmissable.
