King Charles told the world he had been diagnosed with cancer. Following surgery for an enlarged prostate, Buckingham Palace announced on Monday that King Charles III had been diagnosed with a form of cancer. His Majesty has not specified which type of cancer he suffered from, but it is understood not to be prostate cancer.

Charles spent the night at home after beginning his treatment, which left the royal family facing a new health crisis just 18 months after he assumed the throne following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

According to the palace, he is still “wholly positive,” although he will have to postpone public appearances and tasks. The palace declared that the king would continue to conduct official paperwork and state business as usual.

“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” the statement added.

As stated by Buckingham Palace, “In this capacity, His Majesty has often spoken publicly in support of cancer patients, their loved ones, and the wonderful health professionals who help care for them.” Before ascending to the throne, Charles was the patron of several charities that support cancer patients.

According to the statement, the king also wanted to share his diagnosis in part to avoid speculation on his condition but also “in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”

Early Diagnose

The news comes over a week after the King and his senior daughter-in-law, Princess Kate, were released from a private London clinic after medical procedures. Whereas Charles experienced a “corrective procedure” for a benign enlarged prostate, Kate, 42, had arranged abdominal surgery for a noncancerous condition.

Charles’ eldest son is presently anticipated to step up to carry out a few duties on behalf of his father while the king seeks his cancer treatment. The Prince of Wales is resuming his royal duties this week, his office said, after having to put off them whereas his spouse was experiencing treatment.

In the meantime, British tabloids Reported that Harry, the Duke of Sussex, was due to reach back within the country after he was spotted at the Los Angeles International Airport.

It occurred during a period when Harry and Meghan withdrew from their positions as senior members of the royal family in 2020, and Harry’s highly personal revelations published in his memoir last year are said to have caused tension in their relationship with his father and brother.
