Inside, more than 100,000 artifacts will trace the full arc of ancient Egyptian civilization, from the pre-dynastic period to the Greco-Roman era. Among the museum’s centerpiece displays are the complete treasures of King Tutankhamun, presented in their entirety for the first time since the pharaoh’s tomb was unearthed in 1922.
The collection will be accompanied by artifacts belonging to Queen Hetepheres, mother of King Khufu, and the reconstructed solar boats of Khufu himself. Officials anticipate that the new museum will attract roughly five million visitors annually.
