Elie Saab Takes Paris to New York, and Reminds the World Where Arab Fashion Stands

On March 7, a Lebanese designer stepped onto one of fashion’s biggest stages and delivered a collection that was, in every sense, his own.

There is something quietly powerful about watching Elie Saab take his bow at Paris Fashion Week. Not because it is surprising, he has been doing this for decades, but because it never stops meaning something. On Saturday, March 7, the Lebanese couturier presented his Fall-Winter 2026-2027 ready-to-wear collection at 4:30 pm, slotted into a day that also included Hermès, Vivienne Westwood, and Balenciaga. He held his own. He always does.

Midnight in Manhattan: Fall 2026 Highlights

The collection’s title, “Midnight in Manhattan,” told you where you were going before the first look appeared. Inspired by New York, the collection featured billowing ballgowns printed with Central Park-themed florals alongside more fitted, business-chic looksthat together told the story of a woman moving through a city at full speed, never once losing her composure.

The Elie Saab woman this season immerses herself in the 90s New York art scene, reimagined for today, intellectual and seductive, her look embracing two distinct but deeply related moods: downtown power tailoring and uptown florals with a twist.

By day, sensual suiting centres around an architectural jacket with rounded shoulders, a cinched waist, and exaggerated hips. Skirts are sculpted into a tulip or a tube; trousers are super-long and straight, or shaped into a sleek cigarette silhouette, precision-cut from wool, tweed, or velvet in midnight black or charcoal.By night, the collection shifts entirely. Organza and chiffon drape the body as if improvised live upon a mannequin, the kind of evening dressing that has been Saab’s signature since the beginning, and that remains, season after season, utterly unmatched.

Among those watching from the front row were Olivia Palermo, Barbara Palvin, Poppy Delevingne, Kelly Piquet, and Anna Dello Russo, a mix of fashion royalty, celebrities, and global tastemakers who didn’t need much convincing to show up. That kind of room doesn’t happen by accident. It is built over thirty years of consistency, craft, and an absolute refusal to compromise on beauty.

Elie Saab’s Global Fashion Legacy

What Elie Saab represents in 2026 goes beyond any single collection. At a time when the fashion industry is in the middle of a generational reshuffle, new creative directors, shifting aesthetics, houses finding themselves, he remains one of the most enduring and recognisable names on the entire Paris calendar. And he got there not by chasing trends, but by committing completely to his own vision.

He is not alone in that. The rise of Amina Muaddi, the global success of Andrea Wazen, and the influence of regional designers finding their audiences from Paris to Dubai all of it builds on a foundation that designers like Saab helped lay. He proved, long before the conversation became fashionable, that an Arab designer could stand on the world’s most competitive runway and not just belong there, but define it.

Midnight in Manhattan was a reminder of all of that. It was a collection about a woman who knows exactly who she is, wherever she finds herself. It is hard not to see a little of its creator in her.
