The summit covered six main themes through 15 global forums and over 110 interactive dialogues and sessions
The World Government Summit 2024 (WGS), wrapped up its 11th edition, discussing and shaping the future of governments. The summit, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates during the period of 12 to 14 February, brought together over 25 heads of state and governments, 140 governments, 85 international organizations, and thousands of experts and visionaries from around the world.
The theme of the World Governments Summit was “Shaping Future Governments”, with a focus on anticipating future opportunities and challenges while addressing pressing global issues. The summit covered six main themes through 15 global forums and over 110 interactive dialogues and sessions.
The themes were:
- Government Acceleration and Transformation. How to leverage digital technologies, policies to drive economic growth, and social inclusion in the face of rapid technological changes
- Artificial Intelligence and The Next Frontiers. How to address the regulation, ethical design, and broader emerging trends regarding generative AI. Which is vital for governments and organizations navigating the evolving technological landscape.
- Reimagining Development and Future Economies. How to embrace new technologies, business models, and societal trends to foster innovation and competitiveness in a rapidly evolving economy
- Future Societies and Education. How to build inclusive, sustainable, and resilient societies that can harness scientific and technological advancements for human development and well-being
- Sustainability and Global Governance: How to ensure sustainable practices and collaborative efforts for equitable and resilient resource access, with a specific focus on food, water, and energy security
- Urbanization and Global Health Priorities. How to address the challenges and opportunities arising from urbanization about global health, such as developing efficient transport systems, innovative urban designs, and focusing on the well-being of city residents

Some of the highlights of the World Governments Summit included:
- The Indian Prime Minister participated in the summit as a guest of honor and delivered a special keynote address on the role of India in shaping the future of the world
- Türkiye, India, and Qatar were announced as the guests of honor for the next edition of the summit in 2025
- The Best Minister Award was conferred to the Minister of Public Health HE Dr Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari for her outstanding efforts in providing efficient, sustainable, and innovative services to the population in the health sector
- The GovTech Prize was awarded to four winners, iRASTE From India, The Digital Family Card (DFC) from Kazakhstan, the Education Outcomes Project from Ghana, Health Services Platform SatuSehat from Indonesia
- The SDGs in Action platform showcased the best practices and innovations worldwide to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030
- The Industry and Advanced Technology Forum explored the impact of technological advancements on various sectors. Moreover, the role of governments in harnessing innovations and promoting technology transfer
- The Experience Exchange Forum facilitated knowledge sharing and learning among government officials and experts from different countries and regions

The World Government Summit 2024 was a successful event that demonstrated the importance of global solidarity and cooperation for shaping the future of governments and humanity.
