Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing arm of Amazon, has unveiled ambitious plans for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In a strategic move, AWS will invest more than $5.3 billion and establish an AWS infrastructure Region within the country by 2026.

At launch, the new AWS Region will have three Availability Zones. Bringing the total number of Availability Zones across 33 global geographic areas to 105. AWS aims to establish six additional AWS Regions and eighteen additional Availability Zones in Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Thailand, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the AWS European Sovereign Cloud with today’s announcement.

What Does This Mean for Saudi Arabia?

  1. Digital Transformation Accelerated: The AWS Region will empower Saudi Arabia‘s organizations, startups, and enterprises to harness the full potential of cloud technologies.
